Crimson or Corruption, lead or iron, gold or platinum any other either/ors? Crimson/corruption, copper/tin, iron/lead, silver/tungsten and gold/platinum. In hardmode you get cobalt/palladium, mythril/orichalcum and adamantite/titanium. For a specific boss you need adamantite. Otherwise it's not really important which of the alts you get

So I don't know if this is a repost, and I am way late on this. But I recently picked up terraria again, and I remembered an awesome trick for getting gold/platinum. I cant give credit, because I cant seem to find the source. 1. Change one platinum/gold coin for 100 gold/silver pieces. 2. Hold shift and click on the 100 stack. Silver Bars are the refined form of Silver Ore, requiring 4 ores to smelt one bar. Silver is the fifth tier of minerals, being a tier above Iron, and a tier below Tungsten. A Platinum Coin is made when you have a pile of 100 Gold Coins. Similar to how a Gold Coin is made from 100 Silver Coins. As far as I know, Platinum Coins cannot be 'found' as Gold Coins can be found in chests and such.
